Shared Links to Single Pages of Notes is being removed

We recently removed the ability to share single pages of notes. The previous single-page sharing implementation from personal OneDrive notebooks was our initial attempt to begin building out the larger feature set. However, this first step didn’t satisfy the needs of our customers and, compared to full notebook sharing, usage of the limited page sharing feature was very low. The technical path we need to take to build out the full OneNote page sharing experience requires us to deprecate the previous functionality until comprehensive work on these feature improvements can be completed.

What happens to page links that I’ve already shared with other people?

Previously shared links to single pages of notes will automatically expire as of June 15, 2018. After this date, recipients of shared page links will no longer be able to view these pages, unless a recipient…

    I'm a business user.

I have several notebooks that correspond to different aspects of my life. I have some for Boards, some for Not for Profit work I do, some for large projects at the office, and of course, personal.

In each of those areas of my life, there are "sections" that are naturally shared and "sections" that are naturally private.

For instance, assume I'm on a Board of Directors. The Board has several working committees. I may be helping the Initiative X Committee. There will be lots of documents and correspondence, even brainstorms and handwritten notes on my SP3 (man, I love my SP3). Anyway, I want to share that WHOLE section - that whole collection of thoughts and notes - with the SubCommittee for Initiative X. However, I cannot share the Contoso Board notebook with them. There are tons of financials, etc in there that are NOT for committee members, only Board members. Making a new notebook with just those things in it is also not tenable - I'd have three notebooks named "Strategic Planning Committee" for three totally different organizations (for instance).

Another example is personal. I'd love to share sections of my "Household" notebook with my wife. However, I don't want to share the section called "<wife name> Gift Ideas" with her! I love being able to clip things on the fly and drop them into my notebook (did I mention how much I love my SP3??). However, I want to be able to share "Grocery Lists" and "Home Improvement Projects" with my wife - and not just individual notes. There may be hundreds of notes in there.

Bottom line - it's a clarity and consistency issue for me. I can share the most granular artifacts (notes) and I can share the largest artifacts (notebooks), but I can't share anything in the middle. I should be able to share in every way I can organize.

One final note - I've been a die hard Evernote, Dropbox, Google Apps guy for a few years. The Surface Pro 3 with OneNote & OneDrive is THE killer utility of 2014 and I didn't expect it when I got my SP3. I've been shocked and amazed at how well everything just WORKS. I appreciate this forum - but I also deeply appreciate these products. This is actively making my life better every day - and that's not hyperbole. Thanks!
