Is https://github.com/OneNoteDev/OneNoteAPISampleWinUniversal not what you're looking for? The samples were designed to work on Win 8.1 AND above. If the experience is crappy on Win10 dev boxes, we'd love to make it better.
Can you share more details on your experience?

    Hello folks,
While we haven't worked on IFTTT Triggers, we do have some news to share! For those who talked about activity streams: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/office365/howto/onenote-sync

Hi Peter, the json payload in the Pages API response already contains hyperlinks to the page ( under links.onenoteClientUrl and onenoteWebUrl).
You can use these to create hyperlinks and navigate betweens pages.
We can look into the feasibility to producing hyperlinks to specific objects in the page.
    Thanks for the feedback
