To be able to move/copy pages and sections to multiple Notebooks at once ie. distribute to the whole class's notebooks at once
If I need all the students or a specific group of students to get the pages I need to copy to each or make 29 copies and drag and drop over to the student's note books individually. Being able to select all of the notebooks or sections I want to make a copy to before pressing move/copy would be great. Thanks
We are pleased to let you know that this feature is now available in the new Class Notebook Addin. Thank you for all your comments and feedback in helping us make OneNote better for everyone to use. Please read our blog for more information.: https://blogs.office.com/2016/03/08/introducing-the-class-notebook-add-in-for-onenote-designed-and-built-with-teachers/
I have a large class Notebook and and have created a new section group but am unable to move various student into this section group. Te error message I get is "To move these sections, move or copy individual sections, This section group cant be moved" I have tried the drag and drop option and also the Right click and move on the drop down.Does this mean I can only move sections of a child's notebook to this new section group or have I done something else wrong.
Now give it to us on the MAC desktop version! I'm dying here!
I completely agree.
Another feature: say that every studnet has the same page in their notebook. It would be great to also view all these pages at once. In other words, sort by page, rather than by student.

This would be a welcome feature. It would be easier to get teacher, parent, and student buy-in to OneNote and help them all love it more.
I would go a step further though. Make it so that one could copy an entire set of pages with links (similar to copying and pasting a group of cells in Excel to automatically refer to relative, adjoining cells).
For example: Let's say that I have a welcome page that has a Table of Contents on it. And let's say that on several items, I link to pages in a Homework section of the notebook or other linkable locations. It would be great if I could copy the entire package (Welcome section and Homework section) and paste the package in all the student notebooks at once with the links working locally in their notebooks.
If the above sounds too confusing, I'd be happy to discuss it via skype or other fashion. Contact me if needed. :)
Thanks for continuing to make awesomeness.
I lost an entire weekend because of this.
This should be one of greatest priority jobs for Office team
I feel your pain Douglas. I my in adult vocational training and while MS suggests that we put our student information in once and have the students copy them to their individual notebooks. When I attempt to do that, I get a boat load of calls. I primarily use the OneNote client while my students may use a mix of the web-based OneNote and the OneNote client.
Here is a suggestion for Microsoft - just like the content and collaboration pages have an underscore character, why can't we have a student template account identifier that we can add to the notebook, set up all of our sections with their page content and then add the students to the notebook. Each student's individual notebook would copy the same content (sections, pages, etc) as is contained in the student template account notebook automatically or based on my indicating to copy this student notebook to all of my student notebooks.
Right now I create all of my sections and pages in my instructor notebook. Create the class notebook with the relevant sections. Add one dummy student account. for testing purposes. (I maintain a dummy office 365 student user account) Copy the sections from my instructor notebook to the Content section of the notebook. Then copy the sections from the content section to my dummy student account. Once am satisfied with everything, I add the real student accounts to the notebook, then copy all of the sections from the content section to EACH individual student notebook. Deleting the section placeholders as I go and syncing for each student so they can see what they need to see.
Problem #1 - they automatically get an email as they are added to the notebook, I would rather have them get the email with the link once I am done.
Problem #2 - There should be an option to allow for replacing a duplicate (named) section with a new copy
Problem #3 - Having to do this one student at a time and one section at a time is really painful. Having a student template notebook only accessible by an instructor that could be copied and matched to a user account would really be sweet.
Oh well, we wish.
As a kindergarten teacher it is great to be able to have the same section in each students individual notebook. It would be easy to set up the students notebooks instead of recreating the exact same notebook 30 times.

I like this idea. Also the ability to copy a section from 1 notebook to all notebooks would be extremely helpful. For example, if I go into the content library of one period's notebook and add something, I would like to easily distribute that to all notebooks for all class periods instead of having to copy for each individual notebook.
I work with middle school students. Typically this is their first extensive experience with onenote. In saying that, I like to give them the information they need and keep it organized for them. So if the responsibility is on the student to access and obtain the information from the library, it is not always in the proper place.
By copying multiple sections to multiple notebooks at one time is an awesome capability to me as a teacher.
Giving the students experience with onenote and organization in middle school, they will be able to maintain their own notebooks in the future.
I would have liked to copy previously created notebooks to each student's class notes section, rather than just place them in the content library. This is because in the previously created notebook I had allowed space for answering questions etc

Please add this feature. Greatly needed.
@Spacewalker0720 - if the students access the OneNote Class Notebook Online the copy capability is not available. Since we are already defining the sections for their Notebooks during Class Notebook creation, it would be great to also include any content for those sections. That way as they access the Class Notebook, their individual sections are pre-populated.
Like Spacewalker0720, I also see students can visit the Content section of the notebook and copy a worksheet or assignment to their own notebook.
When we hand out physical worksheets, we pass a pile around and each student takes a copy from the stack of paper.
In saying that, it could be useful to push content to students notebooks. After all, we send emails to student distribution lists and they land in their Inbox. Why not worksheets, assignments and other content that needs to be distributed?
Why don't you have a single class notebook and let the students copy it into their own notebooks themselves? Just wondering.
