There are evident issues with OneNote's syncing capabilities. If syncing cannot be done optimally, at least let us upload our own exported OneNote notebooks on the OneNote website
We have heard your feedback loud and clear and we have ongoing efforts to improve the reliability of our sync pipeline. There has been a bunch of improvements already integrated but we know we have more to go. I am marking this as “Started”, feel free to respond with your comments and let us what the experience looks like for you today, compared to when you originally posted or upvoted this request.
Thank you for helping us make OneNote better for everyone to use.

I want mention an important feature that could be fixed pretty easily. I have a lot of different oneNote notebooks, and sometimes I will open them, do an assignment and then close them (closing them when your done is really important with multiple devices). However, even when I made NO CHANGES to the notebook, it can get stuck and not close because it is "SYNCING" my notebook. Please add a boolean called hasChanged which switches to true once I do any action items in the notebook. That way the notebook can be closed without syncing if no changes were made. It is a pain to open and close large notebooks when I just want to open them and read one thing.

I had some issues regarding one note for windows 8 however with the help of https://errorcode0x.com/refresh-reset-restore-windows-to-factory-settings/ I have managed to fix the issue via a factory reset of the windows.

It's great that Notebooks can be automatically synced, but the User Interface locks up when syncing happens. Usually immediately after starting OneNote and while urgently trying to enter or access a note, OneNote starts to sync right away. Either the syncing should not lock up the UI -- OR the syncing should wait until the UI is idle and pause syncing as soon as there is user activity.

We are in July 2019 and the sync performance is not acceptable. The sync should provide real time collaboration just as OneNote 2016 Desktop app. When will this be available?
I use OneNote 2016 on my Win10 laptop but if I'm away from that I'll use the Android app or the web version.
They all work great individually but it is a mystery when any content I've updated will show up on the other devices.
I don't understand why this happens when you can collaborate in real time?
Why can't it just priorities syncing the newest changes?

Wow, it's even documented that "Individual notebook sections can occasionally stop syncing properly."
Still seems to be a problem. Feels like a high priority!
I spent the whole day trying to Sync back my notes after a Windows reinstall. The Win32 application works fine but the UWP is incredibly slow and I keep getting timeouts and messages like the following:
> Onenote failed to sync this page because the network connection was closed. OneNote will try to sync your notes again soon.
After retrying many times for hours I still cannot Sync one page (it is the biggest one and the one I need the most), it keeps failing.
If you cannot fix Sync properly please at least add the option to use Local notebooks with the UWP app.
Its the ONE HUGE THING that most of us coming from Evernote hate and leaves many of us no option other then to go back to Evernote..
The idea of immediate sync is fine and shouldn't be removed, but like anything that relies on internet traffic and connection quality, it can be frustrating. Sometimes OneNote takes forever to sync (and I know that sync is being worked on by the team), and often it will do what seems like endless sync cycles and spontaneously sync even when nothing has been changed.
I'd like an option that is basically like Evernote's -- you can set a periodic sync interval, and also elect to have it automatically sync on exit. Yes, there's the danger of conflicts across multiple devices, but it seems like a good middle ground.

I think the only solution is delete the Section in the Notebook and Create a New One. But I must say that this solution will prove very dearly, if there is already contents in that Section..
I do not have any content, so I am deleting and remaking them..
But please guys, do something about it, at least this should work properly on all Microsoft Devices..

I am a regular user of One Note, it really helps me in organising the stuff, without the worries of loosing everything, if I loose my phone.
Today, I created a new notebook on OneNoteOnline. There I made some new sections. After being disappointed at seeing the effect on OneNoteAPP, I again the edited the Names of the Sections.
Now, when I opened my APP there was no change and since then I am resyncing the APP only with the hope that the change shall show.
Even then also, I didn't lost hope and I restarted my WindowsPhone but to no avail.
Why is it that there is no change in the name of the sections in newly created Notebook when, whenever I open the same notebook on OneNoteOnline, the change is shown there?
Please resolve this issue as my work is getting affected.
One more thing I would like to mention here, I am using ONEDRIVE location itself for ONENOTES
Either way ONENOTE not updating & Sync instantly, Even ONEDRIVE sync status shows green.
Well there is serious issue with update & Sync notebooks, Microsoft should put a sync Button on app it should update properly when changes made. We don't know what tech.. use in background but should be reflect immediate results as icloud notes works. Then only the Onenote could be ONE.
Because there are conflicts between phone and OneDrive and Onenote (which means the default pages within "quick notes") is just like a dump, keeping syncing but cannot correct the conflict.
