Horizontal Scrolling with Shift+Mousewheel
On a Desktop with a Mouse you can scroll vertically using the mousewheel and zoom in and out with it by holding Ctrl. Having spent some time in an audio editing program I am now used to horizontal mousewheel scrolling by pressing Shift. Would come handy to have that feature in OneNote as well since the shortcut combo is unused anyway. Having to aim for scrollbars feels outdated in 2014 when there is touch everywhere but for those working with a mouse this is currently the only way to pan left and right in OneNote for Windows.

WORKAROUND! I've found a way to get this working using a free tool called X-Mouse Button Control. I've used it for forever. Here's what I did:
1. Install X-Mouse: https://www.highrez.co.uk/downloads/XMouseButtonControl.htm
2. Settings > Modifier Keys > Enable ✅
3. Settings > Modifier Keys > Activate Layer 2 > Shift (then click OK)
4. Main window > Layer 2 > Wheel Up > Mouse WHeel Tilt Left
5. Main window > Layer 2 > Wheel Down > Mouse Wheel Tilt Right
You'll be able to hold Shift and scroll left and right 😊
Hopefully Microsoft fixes. But this is a way to solve it now!

It definitely would be nice to be able to scroll horizontally using your mousewheel (Shift + Scroll). Having to scroll horizontally using the scrollbar is not great. I'm glad that I found a site that at least confirms that you can't mousewheel scroll horizontally so that I know once and for all that is the way it currently is. I hope these votes bring mousewheel horizontal scroll closer to reality.

Please give us horizontal scrolling with mouse wheel and shift key.
Great change to make!
Please make this an add-in, I have it for Word, Excel & E-mail
this is a common practice that is not being utilized by any other function.

Please, I ask you to make this available now!
Shift + Mousewheel: Nothing happens but normal scrolling vertically
And Ctrl + Mousewheel is still only zooming in my OneNote2016 is only zooming in and out, wow.
Would be such a time saver if implemented. Please reconsider guys!
Honestly, how is it possible that after so many years OneNote does not have this basic functionality? Makes me question everything else about this software and its development, and if I should rather invest my time making notes elsewhere where development is managed better.
I'm used to this shortcut. Why not have it here, too???
The Visio has a keyboard shortcut exactly like that. Microsoft already know what we are asking for!
I also asked for this few years ago, but until now...

Hi, if you're still itching for this (after 3 years), the guys on the OneNote subreddit have a solution using a program called AutoHotkey -- and it works!
Sorry scratch that last comment....stupid!
