Todo list with sort and delete all checked functions
The ToDo lists would be much better if you could sort by items checked/unchecked. Also, the list would go a long way if there was a shortcut key for deleting all of the checked items.
Can't believe that OneNote does not have basic functionality of automatically sorting out check boxes so you can move them to another page or the bottom of the list. Might as well just use a pen and paper, just as much admin still needed.
5 years later - no action. I've been trying OneNote out recently but I use check boxes a lot and every other basic note taking app I've used moves checked boxes out of the way. Microsoft: meh
This is a basic function, needs to be available, even Apples notes has this basic function, Also though onenote was a suppior notes option but can believe that this function is still not available in 2019

Did I see it right that this feature request was originally posted 5 years ago? Please wake up Microsoft. Would be great to see this.

This would be great for me to manage my work tasks. I'm experimenting at the moment and am using tags to view open items, but it's still painful.

Would really like for any items that are marked as complete checked) to be migrated to the bottom of the list. For even easier readability change the font to "strikethrough" while check as well.

please allow items on todo list to be sorted as "ticked to the bottom" and "ticked to the top". Perhaps also sort automatically.
Would love for any items that are marked complete to automatically migrate over to a new designated tab.
Please implement sorting of ToDo list. Keeping these lists with other notes is great idea, but after a while, undone tasks will be lost in a sea of completed tasks. Auto sort would make this much more useful.
Please do this as soon as possible. It would be an awesome ease for my job!!
I agree with the above but also a shortcut key to delete the unchecked items depending on how you are using the list.
Can't believe this isn't delivered

Yes, please add this. Come on it's so obvious that we want this and that it should be available why are we still voting on this 5 years later? I'm going to have to search for other software to help keep me organized if Microsoft can't provide the best product.
I've only started using this todo list for a week and amazed we can't sort by tasks done or not. Woulkd be a great help
This prevents me from using OneNote for todo lists. Have been using other products for years.

There's a decent solution for this problem which I just found. Just install Onetastic then install a macro that strikesthrough completed items and sorts the list.
Download Onetastic Macro Extension here
Here's the macro to strikethrough and sort

This feature is really needed to make OneNote properly compete in the Todo list space. There is a gaping hole in the space of native Windows Todo list apps that are decent, easy to use.
Why is this needed? Because browser based todo lists are all too SLOW.
Google Keep, evernote, and many others that I've tried become almost unusable once your lists become reasonably large. I've ended up just reverting to storing my To do lists in text documents in a dropbox folder, which is far from ideal but better than the alternatives. OneNote can be a solution to this problem.
Not sure how many more votes will be needed to have this functionality enabled.

In addition to the sort features listed below, I would like the ability for task lists created in individual tabs to be summarized/compiled on a cover page.
I manage multiple projects simultaneously and have a task list for each project. I have a tab for each project, with multiple pages within each tab. After a meeting, I create a to-do list of what I need to get done.
I have several such tabs and sub pages.
After generating several individual such task lists, I would like One Note to link these lists to a complete task list that I could have as a cover page. That way, I have one page that I can look at that contains *all* of the tasks that I have to complete. When I complete a list, it will get crossed off (deleted from) the top level list, and crossed off (line through) on the list on which it was created.
My firm used OneNote and has OneDrive and SharePoint for collaboration tools. We also use OneNote to share project notes. Having such features would be very helpful in managing our work. Thank you.
It's really bizarre they don't have this feature yet - ideally there would be some options like:
- after you check off a task, it moves the task to the bottom
- optionally you can choose to have the "done" tags strikethru
- It should show the date completed
Thanks for working on onenote, I hope this is implemented soon!
