Give us the previous navigation layout back in OneNote for Windows 10
I HATE the layout of the new navigation manu in the latest update of OneNote app for Windows 10, in this model, you can't customize the menu position, etc while you could in the previous versions. I don't understand why you think you need to change what's good while you do not touch what's bad! Please give us the previous navigation layout. It had no problem.
Please give us the OneNote2016 style Navigation. Both of the new methods are horrible wastes of screen space.
Consider voting for this one, too. Tabs on top for the win! https://t.co/d14XTS5wzb

From UI design perspective, while hierarchy of Notebooks > Sections > Pages make sense on paper. But it doesn't work well in real life, vertical section layout takes up so much screen real estate. It's even worse in portrait mode. Also, selecting open notebooks now takes an extra click. I often goes back and forth between different notebooks. This is very counteractive.
Why not have best of both worlds? Have a legacy UI mode that keeps 2016 layout which has been around for decades and proven to work logically by millions of users.
Please move Navigation back to the top. Left side reduces real estate on the view.

I agree!! The layout takes up way too much space on the screen. You can either see everything and have it take up too much room, or you can't see anything. Give the option of having tab across the top of the screen rather than taking up 40% of the screen space!!
I just started using the new version and have gone back to using the previous version that my colleagues are all still using for exactly the same reason, none of us like the new layout. Also we would have provided feedback directly through the app as suggested but our IT department controls the privacy settings that prevent us from giving feedback.
Agreed. The new navigation is COMPLETELY unusable and takes up most of the screen. I use the old one on my desktop and it's brilliant - I just cannot use the new one on my laptop.
the vanishing scroll bars are also the WORST idea ever and an utter pain to use with a trackpad.
If there is one app that i hate through the core of my heart and soul, that is Onenote Windows 10 app. I have more than 100 reasons why i hate this app.
I literally searched "I hate Windows 10 onenote app" on google and it brought me here.
I once even hated Onenote 2016 version for lack of useful functionality but i Used "Onetastic" to overcome that. Now after this ****** Windows 10 version, I changed my decision and started loving Onenote 2016.
But to our worry came the discontinuation of support to Onenote 2016. Atleast they are continuing this notebook syncing for older versions other than windows 10 version.
Just enable an Option which make you choose between the foldable and unfold navigation.
Having to wait for a scroll bar to appear is driving me crazy. I use Onenote as a presentation tool. Having to wait in the middle of a presentation really cuts down the low. I used to leave Onenote as a tool for my substitute teachers to use with my class. Now, I can't use it because it is so clunky and complicated. Unless you use Onenote regularly, there are so many quirks that someone with no experience doesn't find it intuitive. The old Onenote was sooooo intuitive. It just worked. Now, it just doesn't. Don't even get me started on this cloud business. Now, I can't leave my sub plans in onenote for a substitute teacher because they have to log into the cloud to access my files. Really!!!!! They need to access these files locally. I can't setup passwords for everyone who passes through my room. Onenote used to be so easy to use. Why did you make it so complicated?
I really do HATE the navigation menu as well. Please return to binder list on the left vertically and section tabs running horizontally at the top.In the new version, everything is crammed into the left side, which is visually confusing - which page is with which binder, I have to keep going back and forth to find the binder I need. AND, having everything on the left cuts out half of the page I'm actually trying to use in Onenote. It really is just awful. I can't express how much I hate the navigation layout. I'm a huge Onenote fan, but this new layout is really, really, really irritating me.
PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD NAVIGATION MENUS - THE NEW ONES SUCK !!!
NOT EVEN THE LEGACY MENU OPTION WORKS ANYMORE !!!
I used to have the drop-down menu right where I wanted it - now I am forced to deal with a clunky interface that just NOT do the job. How can you call this an improvement? Wish I could send a bill for the time wasted on this - simply shocking.
ITS JUST NOT CRICKET, MICROSOFT - LISTEN TO YOUR USERS FOR ONCE !!!
The navigation changes made to OneNote for windows 10 are horrible!
Please give us the option to use the old way. The screen real-estate the left tabs take to be legible is crazy. Then if I want the realestate I have to close the side menu completely hiding both sections and page tabs. Then if I want to know where I am, I have to re-open them.
Scroll bars are insane too. WHY must I hover a scrollbar for a second before I can scroll? This interrupts the flow of thought and work. I trip over this every time. Make it stop-- give us the option for non-fadeaway scrollbars.

I wish I could bill you people who move **** for no reason making me look to high heaven for what is still perfect in my desktop version. So, now on my laptop, which has the least space, you arrogantly appropriate the most real estate. I have no time to now go through whatever remove/reinstall ritual because you couldn't be bothered to give me a setting choice. There's a special place in hell for software engineers who "improve" things that don't need improving, to the detriment of our work, and don't give users the option of choice.
We should have the choice of what we turn on or off for navigation.
Microsoft are upsetting customers by removing usefully features, because they have decided they know more than their customers.
Another App broken and will have to find an alternator when we lose OneNote 2106. This is a brilliant App which is about to be killed and replaced with a sub standard Windows version.
Skype Classic is the other App which was great and I have now given up using the new version.
Ditto. I need the 2016 layout. It is a vastly superior use of space and flows so much better. Cannot fathom why you'd change it...

Please give us the option to have the same navigation setup as OneNote 2016. The layout/navigation in OnteNote app is clunky and difficult to use. What has to happen in order users to be given the option to change the layout of the OneNote App?

there is an option in the settings called "Legacy Navigation Panes". If you check that box and restart OneNote, you'll get the old navigation back - not anymore you only get the list of notebooks back. the sections and pages are still on the left and nothing at the top. Please can we get the 2016 Navigation back as it took up less space on the screen and you could read the page. 50% of the screen is now the navigation forcing the actual information way over to the right. A chocolate tea pot would be more use than this. Have reverted back to 2016 until this is fixed.
There are a couple of thousand complaints on the OneNote for Mac forum about the Sections being moved from the top of the page too.
If all of those Mac user plus all of the OneNote for Windows users on the various posts in this forum feel strongly that having the Sections on the top was a superior user experience, I question the lack of response to that feedback from Microsoft.
Can someone from MSFT reply and tell us why they can't continue to support the ability to layout the page as desired?

Please put the tabs BACK on TOP. I hate the ones on the side. I've worked with them for a while and they are just awful, taking up screenspace I don't have.
