Insert Excel Spreadsheet
We use the Insert Spreadsheet function that allows us to view and edit the spreadsheet in OneNote 2016 but cannot find the same function in OneNote for Windows

This was a very valuable feature. We have tabular information in OneNote where we need to update values periodically and have the other columns calculate automatically based on formulae. You can't do this with a OneNote table. Nor is linking to a OneDrive file a solution because you are introducing an external dependency that not all users of the notebook may have access to, and may break if someone moves or deletes the spreadsheet.

Please add the embedding of Excel spreadsheets back into OneNote. This was a huge plus and a much better seamless integration back when it was working in OneNote 2016. Now within OneNote UWP, we can only add downloadable files or links that navigate users away from the OneNote program (or even away from using OneNote entirely).

Please bring this feature back. Without this feature I can't ask my students to do any labs on OneNote as most our labs involve data analysis and graphing. This forces me to use google drive and I hate the idea of having multiple platforms as it just makes things complicated for students.

Miss this feature a lot. It can easily double the time that is required for a teacher to complete one assignment
Windows App process: 1) teacher creates Excel file, 2) teacher adds to OneNote, 3) teacher distributes file to student, 4) student opens OneNote, 5) student opens Excel, 6) student does work, 7) student saves Excel file, 8) student puts modified file in correct location in OneNote, 9) teacher opens OneNote, 10) teacher opens Excel, 11) teacher assesses work, 12) teacher records assessment in OneNote.
OneNote 2016, 1) teacher creates Excel file, 2) teacher embeds file in OneNote, 3) teacher distributes page, 4) student opens OneNote, 5) student does work, 6) teacher opens OneNote, 7) teacher assesses and records in OneNote.

Although the new "Upload to OneDrive" attach option in OneNote UWP app is very similar to the old "Insert Excel Spereadsheet" from the OneNote 2016 desktop program, you are unable to edit Excel spreadsheets directly in OneNote as you would with the old desktop program, and this is a major drawback.
Will this ever be a feature in OneNote again?

Still have not seen this come back into play. Please bring this feature back.
If you look at some of their mock-ups, it seems they are working on this.
