Add ability to sort Pages
Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey. Here are some of the results of the survey –
• Sorting is needed for pages, sections, and notebooks
• Sorting should persist while navigating, after close of notebook, across all devices, and be seen by people they share the notebook with
• Current OneNote users want the following sorts – alphabetical, date created, and date modified
• We heard from a lot of users who wanted to set section lists and page lists in a sort that they wouldn’t change often, but there was also a set of users who mentioned that they would want to live in a certain sort order, but switch to another sort order as an aid to locate specific items within their list
Thank you again for your responses. This information helps us understand the experience we need to build to match your needs.
I really like the UI for OneNote, and I was seriously considering importing decades (yes, decades) of content from hundreds of Word files, because OneNote seems more organized and user-friendly than opening each Word file individually when we're searching for historical content. New content will continuously be added and updated in the years to come, so we need dynamic sort and search functions to find things quickly. OneNote's inability to sort pages just makes this unworkable. It's such an unfortunately devastating design flaw, and it seems like Microsoft really doesn't care enough about OneNote to make this simple improvement that so many people clearly want.
Obviously, I've decided against transferring our content over to OneNote. Even with the great features it has, it's just not worth the time to transfer our content if it can't be quickly and easily sorted and organized in a useful way. Disappointing to say the least - this could be a really great product, if they bothered to put the time into it.
I installed OneNote for Android version 16.0.12325.20242 and find that I cannot sort the list of pages within a section. Seems like that would be a very basic usability function. I agree with the other comments below, too. It would be nice to be able to sort pages by date/time last accessed or by date/time created as well as alphabetically (ascending and descending).
There is one section with over one hundred pages. It would take me hours to order them one at a time using the new ordering function. I added the section to the Windows version and sorted the pages there. But, the sort sequence does not carry over with the sync function.
Sorting was automatic and available as a granular option for all kinds of software products back in 1992 and that was 28 years ago! We can't even upvote/downvote posts on this page or thread. A feature like that is not available. If it were available voting would reveal +1000 for the person who stated "Seems like this should be pretty basic functionality out of the box" (and 5 others saying the same thing). Just unbelievable.
I will have to try and keep my rant here under control. I just lost a onenote page off the web version screen today for no reason and it was not a "sync" issue. The mobile device was idle at the time. No-one else uses the account. It is no longer possible to trust microsoft for any reason in this "abandonware" and "we don't support that" world we're now in. ZERO direct product support. I now feel like I have to printscreen every page because it might disappear for no reason.

I can't believe this is not a built-in feature...I've got thousands of sections and pages all random in my OneNote...My users are also complaining...Simple common sense.
Hello, There is one big one missing on the "gathering feedback" comments. We also need a way to sort email "pages" by date the email was sent, not just by date it was added to the OneNote!
In addition, we need to be able to sort "by conversations" and then by date received, i.e. like in Outlook when all of the same emails in the same email chain are grouped together.
One Note would otherwise be a great tool for archiving emails, but without these functions it's VERY difficult.

It would also be great if you could customize a setting for OneNote to sort by Notebook color per the user's preferences. It becomes a pain to drag and the notebooks where I need them every time I make a new one. Also Currently it is impossible to even move the Notebooks on the mobile app, which is beyond frustrating since I'm a neat freak. I could bear with this limitation on the mobile app if it used the desktop order for the Notebooks.
- Personalized color-coded sorting (ideally being able to create different preferences for Notebooks, sections, and pages)
- Keep organization consistent between all devices

Seems like this should be pretty basic functionality out of the box
PLEASE add the ability to sort pages, either or both by Alphabetically, or Date Created/revised.

This is a major gap and big reason for staying with Evernote.
lol, just deployed OneNote 2019(!) and amazingly enough, the feature is still missing.. Rather than curving icons and changing the ribbon's color scheme, why not actually work on adding new features? It's just bizar that I still need to rely on a 3rd party plugin for such basic features as "Sort".. Guys, come on!!

PLEASE...add the capability to sort pages by alphabetical order and/or by date for Onenote in ALL operating systems. This should be a feature of Onenote and NOT an add-in.
