Fill Shapes or Selections with Colours still Not here 2017
Here we are in 2017 and this feature still not implemented in OneNote but Word Excel & PP have it. But OneNote is tagged as a great drawing app!!!
We are not talking of a NASA think tank just get it sorted Microsoft.
See old requests here https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_onenote-mso_other/onenote-2010-fill-a-standard-shape-with-a-color/ad36cd9e-485d-e011-8dfc-68b599b31bf5
I love the way this comment is worded but I still don't see "Fill Color" in the new OneNote :-(
PLEASE this! I use Onenote in my classroom as a teaching/notetaking tool. How can all the other office application shave this but not Onenote??

I have been transferring notes from Excel sheets into OneNote and noticed many things (i consider basic) missing or much more difficult to use. However, I was stunned to find you are missing this type of basic functionality available in other productivity applications. The only option you provide is to draw some squiggly type line manually - not even reasonable.
Still not here 2019! I was hoping this could be a great way to make flash cards, by putting an opaque shape over the top.
Come on, MS. I'm trying to standardize on OneNote, but you've got to meet me halfway. So odd that you'd leave off such a basic drawing feature.
Yep, do this MS. I need it for my AWS (constantly evolving - sick-implied-burn) Notes.
Strongly agree - this is one of a few very simple things that OneNote could do MUCH better. It's a very useful app - why not develop it instead of taking backward steps to the 'new' versions.?
Unfortunate. I am sad, but hopeful. Let's go OneNote Team!

2018 and still no fill... Betting the 2019 will be just as buggy and won't have fill either. Awesome job Microsoft.
Please resolve this issue.

MICROSOFT SUCKS!! THEY DON'T LISTEN TO THEIR FEEDBACK ABOUT ONE NOTE!!! THEY NEED TO ADD BASIC FUNCTIONS FOR ONENOTE!!! ALSO, FIX THE FREAKING BUG THAT OCCUS WHEN YOU RECORD, AND THE COMPUTER GOES TO SLEEP, WHICH = MISSING/INAUDIBLE AUDIO!!! I AM SO FED UP WITH THIS!!
for the love of god please implement the basic drawing capabilities that are otherwise standard across office applications like Word and Powerpoint. Really screws up the user experience when you become accustomed to features like DRAWING A FILLED RECTANGLE or being able to control fill options but in the one application where drawing is most relevant you hamstring it with a strangely limited set of features. You should be putting evernote and other competition completely out of business with potential of OneNote but instead this type of sloppiness turns off any kind of person serious about productivity (ie the entire Microsoft userbase; the ones who are not doing productivity work and are consuming content are using other devices and don;t bother with Windows/Office). Don't punish us once again for sticking with microsoft, there are fewer and fewer of us willing to do it.
I was just looking for this as well. I keep giving up, but what I just found that will work for me (although not as flexible) is to use a table and shade the cells. It's a decent band-aid for what I need at least. Hope that helps someone!
Why is this still not a feature of OneNote? It's late June 2018....
I get the feeling Microsoft only post these pages for their own entertainment.
This has been a grip of users since this product was released. Should be a simple fix with major benefit.
Another example of not reading customer input.
I am constantly astounded at the lack of features in OneNote. It's going to be the most frustrating software experience I've ever had. Here you have a program that is supposed to free you from all the limitations of Word and yet it has <1/2 of the formatting features.
you should definitely add this feature
i also looked for some solutions of this question.
Today i made a shape in PP and i colored it.
Then i click over the shape and i made "save as picture".
After that i inserted in One Note as picture. Over the picture i placed the text.
This is a long way but it is a solution. :)
Actually ...here we are in 2018 and still cant do?
