Add "Take a Picture from Camera" functionality on OneNote
OneNote is a wonderful way of taking notes, including personal Notes. It's almost like a journal.
I'd love it if I could take photos of myself or others directly from my camera or web cam while making a personal entry in my notes.
Thank you in advance!
We are pleased to let you know that Inserting a Picture from Camera is already available. Thank you for all your comments and feedback in helping us make OneNote better for everyone to use. You can find this in the Insert ribbon tab under the Pictures menu with the button labelled “From Camera”.
Please read the following article for more information :
DON'T forgett to add the automatic crop and tilting functionality.
Just add some Kind of "Office Lens" add in?
Must have Feature - and also include the existing automatic cropping and tilting Feature - that are already in the win 8.1 Metro app -> add it to the app but also to the DESKTOP Version!!!!
I cannot insert a camera picture in OneNote Desktop version but a Video made by the tablet camera?! Insert camera picture is a must have feature for scanning documents, bills, etc. to save time. Lookig fwd for this within next update cycle.

Hello there guys of the OneNote team! I really love OneNote and its intuitive and user-friendly interface. Recently updated mine to the latest 2016 version and I quickly started working on my notes. The only thing that I didn't like was the removal of OneNote's Scanning option. It felt like the program was virtually unusable. I always synchronize all my printed notes with this particular feature and I was shocked that it was removed from the latest release.
I hope you guys can fix the issue ASAP. More power to you guys! Thanks!
It is laughable that Microsoft push one with the expensive surface tablets, and it can record video and take no fotos.
GEM for onenote used to give me that functionality but crashes since the latest windows 10 update.
And why does the half baked onenote app have that functionality and not the one I pay for.
I second this suggestion. I find it hard to believe that you would have a brilliant machine like the Surface 3 and not have the ability to quickly insert camera images into a OneNote page. This is basic functionality for whiteboard recording, document scanning, and well...you name it. The camera is a huge and useful tool for notes. The fact that it is missing is really weird.

Enable OneNote 2016 to take pictures using the built in camera from OneNote.
I know the Mobile App has this functionality, but I prefer working with the full desktop version. And since I, and soon many of my students, have Surface Pros it would be a very useful feature.
This needs to be addressed - I bought this AND A SP3 for this type of feature - disappointing!

This is a huge failure! I've bought my Surface 3 believing that I could use completely the OneNote, just like I use to do on my iPad. Unfortunately, I found myself shifting between the desktop app and the tablet app to be able to use the scan feature. Now, with Windows 10 installed, not even this! The tablet app have no more this feature. Today I am living a very odd situation, iPad and Android have features that not a windows tablet nor a windows laptop can provide. What kind of marketing would be that?!
It would be very easy to add such a feature since it is available in the RT version. Please don't let us down!
Yes I agree- I am a bit surprised that someone like Microsoft cannot add this feature yet?
please add this feature, is essential!!!!
Yes, please add this feature to OneNote 2013! Its crazy to have it in the Free App on the app store but not in the retail version. For the desktop OneNote, add support for importing from webcam, that way, it'll be compatible with a wide variety of webcams (be it on Desktop PCs, or the front/rear one on 3-in-1s like my Surface Pro).

I agree. I like the desktop better than the app version. I use a tablet, so I want to be able to take pictures right there. Also, our students use OneNote and since some of them are under 13, they don't have a MS account and therefore no OneNote app.
OneNote can record video & audio so why not be able to take pictures straight from Camera.
Desperately missing this feature in the Desktop App as Anja Dillinger stated. BTW i'm the mentioned colleague ;-) so would be nice if you can offer it in a next release soon. Thanks!

this is a feature a colleague and I were missing dearly when going out to customers and trying to do a UX approach with the method contextual inquiry. Here it would be soooooo useful to take pictures directly from OneNote. right now we cannot use OneNote for this because without pictures, UX is useless :(
I'd like the ability to insert a picture into a onenote directly from my phone's camera (e.g. over bluetooth etc)
e.g. Choose Insert -> Picture -> from Phone, the Phones camera launches, you take the picture. It appears in the one note document
This is usefull for meetings where when you are taking notes, and want to capture something on the board.
