OneNote's search quality and speed
Right now the search speed of the OneNote is not good, specially when you have 5 GB data. Having a Lucene.NET (https://www.nuget.org/packages/Lucene.net/) like full text search would be great. Also in this case the memory usage of the app would be very low comparing to the current architecture.
We are pleased to inform you that this feature has been added to OneNote for Windows 10 as part of the December 2017 update.
Your searches should become much much faster since that update. Search can also be used to find notebooks, sections, section groups..

I like the search query functionality of Lucene.net. See
1. field searches
2. boolean operators
3. wildcard and fuzzy searches
4. date range searches
5. proximity searches
What more could you want?

A way to quickly search the list of Notebooks for a notebook. The notebook list is not sorted and the desktop version allows the user to custom sort the notebooks. My work spans multiple notebooks and I would like a faster method to find my notebooks than scrolling through an unsorted list.
I don't need to search for content in the notebook I just want to quickly jump to the notebook in the list of the notebooks in the application.

good idea - just wondering if it'll work on Password protected files?
