Upgrade the apple pencil experience.
I love everything about OneNote for iPad except for the main thing that I use it for, which is the apple pencil. PLEASE look at apps like Notability and recognize that the handwriting/drawing experience is so much more enjoyable/precise/better looking than OneNote. The OneNote handwriting is so clunky and handwriting looks so sloppy with the current pencil options. This should be such an easy thing to fix, please for everyone, do it!!!

I've tried literally all the apps on iPad, Notability, GoodNotes, Notes Plus, Concepts and even Penultimate. All of them are more satisfying to write in - none of them are as good at collating lots of notes and interacting with a workflow based around Office 365 and across all the platforms - I use IOS, Android, Windows and Linux - with Teams, OneNote sits fine with everything, and is Awesome - I've been a OneNote evangelist for a decade.. in fact my company has a weekly meeting, and ALL the minutes going back to 2011 are in one notebook. It's amazingly powerful.
I just HATE that the experience of writing on my iPap pro - which is hands down the best mobile notebook-like (11 inch) device bar none - is so basic.
It would only, for me, take the ability to fine tune the tilt sensitivity - it's so close to being acceptable - but there are so many examples of great implementations that it's frankly unacceptable at this point that the inking is so basic.

I hate that when I mark up my kids work and return it to them in any of the Microsoft apps, it does not keep the formatting. My notes and corrections are not in line with what I am commenting on and it confises the children.

I stopped using OneNote across iPad Pro, iPhone and Macbook solely because of this reason. Writing with Notability is such a fluidic experience compared to OneNote. Don't get me wrong - OneNote is a fantastic app. But the developers have done nothing to improve or even match writing experience as that offered by OneNote.
For now I'm using Notability, Apple Pages/Numbers/Keynote and Mail App as my daily driver. The fact that this feature request was raised on August 13, 2019 and even a year later OneNote's product development team haven't taken any action makes me wonder if this is going to be an actionable agenda or just an idea page that's never gonna be worked upon.
I hope someone from dev team looks into it and makes this a priority.

Agree with every word

Completely agree with this. I have been considering a switch to Notability given how much better the Apple Pencil support on it is.

The main annoying thing for me is that the app often detects my pen as being slanted, or too much pressure, so the line is too thick to write nicely and I have to do a little squiggle on the side to get it thin again.
This is definitely a OneNote problem as this does not happen in other note taking apps
You could fix this by just having an option disabling pressure sensitivity

Sometimes my ink color will change when I tap from ink to eraser, then back to ink. Annoying glitch!

Also, please add more pencil options, especially as they are available for other platforms. OneNote is awesome but I have to draw some things there and with the standard pencil options... well I draw in "Notes" and make a screenshot which I then paste into OneNote currently...

I've actually found the latest OneNote app pretty reliable for taking handwritten notes. I a pencil 1st gen on an iPad 7th gen and its really smooth writing for me.
I think little tweaks like recognizing you're in "draw" mode immediately after you put the pencil to the screen would be great.
as well as adding an easier way to switch to the eraser. I like the suggestion of a scratch-out. very intuitive like when you're using a paper notebook. (since the Apple pencils dont have an 'eraser' end)

I totally agree. Writing with Apple Pencil in OneNote for iPad is so bad, compared to other apps. Even compared to native « Notes » app.
I plan to switch to Notability because for this.
