Integrate with Microsoft's To Do App
I've seen quite a few suggestions to improve the tags and to-dos in OneNote. An easier and better solution, I think, would be to integrate OneNote and other MS products with Microsoft's To Do and Teams apps.
To Do's created on OneNote could be exported to MS's To-Do app, OneNote tags could be used to search and sort To Do's, etc. It'd be a pretty nice way of integrating and optimizing using all MS products.

I still want stand alone sorting, please. I have IT security protocols that will not let me add apps like To Do, or third-party add ons. Please build it into OneNote.
(I have no objection, of course, to also integrating it with To Do, or with any other app.)

I agree! I have never used Microsoft To Do before, but think it would be really helpful to integrate tags and to-dos with a space where reminders/due dates can be set and tasks completed can be checked off both on the app (or Outlook calendar, or Teams) - I think I'd be more likely to refer to my to-dos this way!
