Dark mode / background: Toggle on a note-basis under the View pane, or app-basis disregard system settings
Just like how some other apps, e.g. Sketch https://www.sketch.com/ approaches dark mode, users should be able to choose to toggle to a dark background on the canvas (in this case note background), the app UI (in this case the whole OneNote app including note background) disregard system settings, if they wish so.
This way, users can have a light mode / background by default for various reasons like better visibility of some elements, (for example, https://onenote.uservoice.com/forums/327165-onenote-for-mac/suggestions/38473528-dark-mode-checkboxes), and enable dark mode only when required (on a plane with dim lights), without modifying system preferences.
Thank you for the feedback. Everyone should have this capability with our latest updates, specifically:
1) When in dark mode on macOS → view menu → select “Switch Background” → notes are now on a light canvas
This applies to pages only.
2) When in dark mode on macOS → preferences → General → Turn off dark mode → whole app is now light mode, regardless of the OS settings.
3) on iOS → on any page → top right “3 dots” menu select “Switch Background” → notes are now on a light canvas

When can this option be added to Android?

@Admin, OneNote Team - Thanks for working on this. What I believe my peer is looking for is the Sun & Moon button as seen on Outlook for Mac. That button appears to live in the "Create a Message" pane and lets you toggle Light and Dark modes with one-click.
Would a button like this be available, hmm, say beneath the Share and Cloud Sync icons in the top-right of OneNote?
