Android: Password protected sections
Vote for this if you want to be able to create and use password protected sections in OneNote for Android, providing added security and privacy for your notes.
We heard your feedback. Now you can also add a password to a section to keep your notes safe. OneNote also supports opening password protected sections with a fingerprint.

it looks like i have to type password each time. Am I missing the ability to leverage the fingerprint security similar to iphone when opening password protected sections of OneNote?
Can't wait for this feature. Once OneNote has that ability it would be really cool to add a "Password Vault" type capability (much like KeepPass).
I think you should work on putting the car on my page.....

I'm not sure if I'm clear on the comment from Admin on September 08, 16. It seems that I can now open the sections, but they can't be locked. In other words, the section I locked on the PC is open for all to read on my phone and can't be locked. Unfortunately, will still have to keep the other programs in my life for the more sensitive data.

Defenitely a needed feature for us that we use OneNote for Android.
Thanks for considering and the efforts!
Good news, thanks

I have many faults, but ingratitude is not one of them. Thank you for adding this much needed feature. Now I can finally leave Evernote behind.

It’s good to see this new feature in OneNote for Android, but there appears to be a major flaw so unfortunately I won’t be using it. Once the password-protected section has been opened, it seems to stay open indefinitely. Exiting the app by pressing the home button, or pressing the back button twice, doesn’t change anything. The app is still running in the background. When you go back to OneNote the protected section is in plain view. The only way I’ve found to close OneNote completely is to use Android’s task manager, and you’d have to remember to do this every time you accessed the protected section. Am I missing something here? Is there a way to close down OneNote from within the app? Could a feature be introduced, like the desktop version, whereby password-protection would automatically be re-applied after a period of inactivity (user-configurable)?
Have tested this on an Android 4.4.2 Samsung tablet and an Android 5.1.1 Samsung phone.
Thank-you!!! This is great. works like a charm.
Hooray! It works (i.e. password-protected tabs can now be read in Android version of the app)! This provides a tool that solves one of my long-standing needs: a tool that can contain sensitive data, available on my mobile device even in the absence of network. For me, the (yet-to-be-provided) feature of creating the pwd-protected tabs is not so important; I'll do that on my Mac. But having the data confidential yet available is very important to me. Thank you devs!
Thank you OneNote! I don't mind creating a note on Android and then applying a password from the PC app. I'm just glad I can unlock pages now. Wish it was sooner so I didn't have to use another app (Evernote), but I just moved everything back to OneNote and it works fine.
My issue was that in addition to not being able to use password protected sections on Android, I have categories with sections under them on my PC and they didn't show up at all on my Android phone and tablet. It seems a side effect of adding password protected sections to Android is that I can also see categories and their sections in Android now.
Well done 'Softies!!

What good is being able to open a password protected section if you cannot create one? I guess my search for a decent note taking app isn't over yet.
Still can't make password protected sections, bug shouldn't be closed.
