Accessing OneNote Notes Saved Offline
I have been recommended to share my issue through the UserVoice and I am really hoping there is an expert here who may be able to provide a solution. I apologize for the lengthy explanation of this problem.
I am an avid and dedicated user of the mobile OneNote App for Android. I am however not the most technically inclined person. As a result throughout my use of the mobile OneNote app for Android (the last two years) I never realized that I was not properly set up for all of my notes to sync up to OneDrive. As a result all of the notebooks and pages I have created on the mobile OneNote app have only been saving themselves in an "Offline mode" within the mobile app itself and none of my information was saving to OneDrive. Therefore every time I closed and opened the mobile app all of my notes would continue to appear on the mobile app, leaving me under the impression they were saving correctly.
My mobile app told me I had page conflict errors and in order to correct this I had to open OneNote on my desktop OneNote app or on the web based OneNote App. When I opened either of these versions of the app I kept getting a sync error and none of the information I had on the mobile OneNote app would populate onto the desktop or web based versions. Despite my lack of technical skill, I attempted to search the Microsoft help community for a solution so I could resolve this on my own. I have absolutely no idea what I managed to do or how exactly I did it, but I finally got the sync on the web based OneNote App to function. However the sync did not occur correctly, instead of the web based OneNote app pulling all of my notes from the mobile OneNote app, the web based OneNote app pushed the blank web based OneNote App notebook of the same name onto my mobile OneNote App. As a result all of the notes I have complied in the last two years are now gone, as if they never existed. After spending over five hours with Microsoft technical support, we arrived at the conclusion that all of my notes only saved directly on the mobile OneNote App itself, as if I was working offline (similar to when you are working offline in Excel or Word). None of my notes from the mobile app ever populated into OneDrive or SharePoint. Microsoft says they cannot go into my specific mobile app and command the application to pull of the information that I had been saving offline prior to the incorrect sync that occurred.
This is the part that does not make sense to me and I am genuinely hoping for some guidance and assistance. Correct me if I am wrong, but because every time I opened and closed the mobile OneNote app and all of my notes kept re-populating that information was being saved somewhere on my phone correct (other than OneDrive or SharePoint)? Therefore if the information was being saved only on the direct mobile OneNote app itself, should it not be possible to go into the code of the app itself and identify a restore point that holds all of my notes that were only saved "offline" and within the app itself?
I would really appreciate hearing from any of the experts out there on what I can do to restore my lost notes. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
